It is about WWII and I tend to like those books so I think I will like it, but I am worried that it might be sad. I am not sure I am in the mood for a sad book but Jenny assures me I will love the characters so I am going to give it a try!
Thanks,

Today you will work together with your partner to devise an interesting way to tell the story of your topic. Approach it like the podcast people heading to your museum want to see engaging displays not to read textbooks!

The Goal: Complete your story by the end of the block. Your final draft needs to appear in the table on the workspace document.  Look below for the section you need to find:

The Story.  Museums often have audio recordings that tell “the story” of events.  In the space below, you and your partner need to tell the story of your event.  This recording will last 1.5 minutes-2 minutes (approximately a full typewritten page)  The main challenge here is to write the story so museum goers are interested.  This task shares many similarities to the writing of the podcast.  “The Story” needs to historically accurate but not sound like it’s being read from a textbook.

Write “The Story” here:

Wednesday 3/29/17--Friday 3/31

Podcast channels  Click on one of the numbers you chose, it is hyperlinked to the slideshow that contains a link to the audio. Please click back to the slideshow so you can follow the pictures as well.

Once you have listened to a podcast, you need to assess the work. Use this link to do that: Peer Podcast Assessment
Remember your reaction is graded, it must contain specifics that reflect that you have listened to the podcast in its entirety and paid attention throughout. Also remember to write that assessment first in the google doc you began when you assessed AKA, then copy and paste it into the form.

Remember--Be kind to one another. Everyone worked hard on this assignment. It is appropriate to make kind, reassuring remarks but completely inappropriate to cut someone else's work down. Remember the old adage, if you do not have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. There is no reason to have to share which podcasts you listened to. Do not talk about anyone else's podcast with others. Again, it is fine to congratulate someone on his/her work but not to talk about others; that is just plain mean and unacceptable.

All 9 podcasts you signed up for must be listened to and rated by the end of the day Monday.

Tuesday 3/28/17

Ms. Carlisto explains the last minute details to check:
     Share documents correctly
Arrange pix so main story pic is larger

Mr. Clark explains sign-up process

Grading explained

TO DO LIST:

Tuesday 3/21

Today you are to settle in with your research on your “story within the story”.

You should be entering the classroom with an article that has been approved by Mr. Clark and read once at least by you.

In class we will expect the following from you:

  • Read the article for a second time
  • Annotate the article by highlighting and taking notes in the margin
  • Look up additional information if necessary
  • Outline your “story within your story”
  • Open a new google doc name it SWSname--SWSangie
  • Begin by linking your research article at the top of the doc then write your rough draft of the 100-200 word "Story within the Story" SWS
  • Link it to your main story that you wrote with your partners (do not paste the whole story in yet--just link it to your name at the beginning of your podcast)
  • .Be sure it is shared with me and with Mr. Clark.

HW: Complete your story within your story
