Thursday

Today we worked on typing our revised papers.  Tomorrow's class is devoted to making this draft even better, especially the conclusions so it will be important to have the paper  done and in hand in class. Also I am collecting logs tomorrow-since we have spent so much time writing, I am decreasing the amount of reading time to 100 minutes instead of 150 BUT there is a longwrite due as well. LW#4 should reflect on a post it you kept this week.

11/12/13

Today we spent time looking over each other's drafts in order to ensure the big parts of the paper were there. If you missed class today or were unprepared, you will need to ask a peer to go through your paper with highlighters.  Tenth period would be great time to do this.  Tomorrow we will revise our papers.  HW: Read/log/post it

Friday 11/8

We worked hard all day writing rough drafts.  The hw is to be sure your roughdraft is complete by Tuesday's class.  If everyone has it done, we will only have to log 130 minutes this week on our reading logs.

Wednesday 11/6

Today we worked toward writing the rough draft of our essay.  First we started by looking at each other's ideas about theme that we generated in class yesterday.  We then looked at the assignment sheet and began a prewriting worksheet. Lots of great questions and work were going on in class.  Your homework is to read/log and post it.  I collected Powerschool grades and handed back papers. If you were absent be sure to hand that stuff in.

Tuesday 11/5

Today in class we did the carousel activity and students shared possible themes of Nightjohn. We will block tomorrow.  HW: redo your theme LW if applicable.  AND print your PS grade and have it in hand for tomorrow's class.

Monday 11/4

Today we did more work with theme in class.  Groups met to discuss possible themes developed through the inclusion of characters like NJ, Mammy, Waller and Sarney
HW: LW#3 Theme. Tell what a possible theme is from your book. Remember theme is a statement about life.  It is not a one word idea, it is a life lesson.  Note you do not have to base this longwrite on a post it. ALSO PRint your PS grade by Wednesday's class.
