Monday 4/13
As ELA tests will be administered tomorrow-we looked at the format of the tests that students will be sitting with the next three days. We talked about how they would be graded and where students would report for the tests.

We blocked today--we read for 15 minutes then found examples of each of the poetic devices from the sheet of 4 poems from Tuesday and from our own poems.

Today we shared our poems wiht one another and discussed what we liked about each others. We also began looking at poetic devices and guessign at their definitions. Fill this worksheet out with your guesses.

Today we will discuss poetry as a genre--What is it? Where do we find it? What experience do we have with it? Students will reflect in the reflections section of their notebooks on these questions after they read 4 poems that will serve as discussion starters.
