Monday 3/2

Happy March!

Today we read and annotated individually the story Thank you Ma'am by Langston Hughes.  We then wrote a summary of the story trying to limit it only to the big ideas of the story--this was done in the reflections section of the readers notebook.  We then mapped the plot of the story with a partner. This too was completed in the reader's notebook. I also collected old logs (2/23-3/2) and students filled out a new log (3/2-3/9).

HW: Answer the following question in your reader's notebook right under your plot diagram:

Reflect on the story--What do you think of the kindness Mrs. Jones bestows upon Roger? Is it deserved or not? Explain using details from the text.AND read/log/post it

If you were absent be sure to:

  • hand in your log upon your return (if you were absent you will see an mi and a 0 in PS--That will go away once you turn it in on your return)
  • read the short story linked above and annotate it.
  • Summarize the story in your RN
  • map the plot of the story and
  • do the hw for tonight
